Turning old into new – our eyewear collection made from recycled materials

About the Eco collection
Reading is one of the most enjoyable activities there is. But what if your eyes don’t want to read like they used to? No problem! Our reading aids made from recycled materials are the ideal solution for anyone who wants to protect their eyes and the environment. The models in our Eco collection are made from high-quality, recycled materials and are therefore not only environmentally friendly, but also particularly robust and durable. The frame, lenses and case are all made from GRS (Global Recycled Standard) certified plastic. Manufacturing from recycled plastics offers many advantages for our environment:

  • Conservation of resources: Recycling plastic means that less virgin material is needed, thus conserving non-renewable resources.
  • Saving energy: The production of recycled plastic requires less energy and causes fewer CO2 emissions than the production of virgin plastic.
  • Preservation of the material cycle: By recycling plastic, the material already produced remains in the economic cycle and does not end up in nature.

Our recycled collection consists of three different models. Whether classic or modern – we have the right model for your needs. You can currently buy the glasses in k kiosk, Press & Books and avec shops in Switzerland.
Trisa Accessoires is proud to be a pioneer in the market with the Eco eyewear collection and to set a milestone in the industry. Because reading should not only be fun, it should also be environmentally friendly!

What are the models made of?

The frames of the glasses are made of rPCTG material. This is a recycled plastic from food packaging, bottles and bottle caps. The rPCTG material shows excellent performance in terms of heat resistance, resilience, workability, strength and resistance. This makes the recycled plastic ideal for eyeglass frames of all types.
Either transparent or black granules are used in its production. The transparent granules are made from transparent source material such as transparent PET bottles. It can be used to produce eyeglass frames in all possible colors. In the case of black granules, colored, dark and black original material is used. The granules t

Recycled eyeglass lens – Yes!

Eyeglass lenses are made from high quality recycled PMMA. PMMA stands for polymethyl methacrylate and is a transparent thermoplastic material obtained by polymerizing the monomer methyl methacrylate. The material is also known as acrylic glass or Plexiglas. Due to its transparency, brilliance and scratch resistance, PMMA is often used as a lightweight and shatterproof alternative to glass.
rPMMA is obtained by recycling PMMA waste. In this process, the waste is crushed, cleaned and processed into granules, which can then be reprocessed into rPMMA. Recycling PMMA waste reduces environmental impact and conserves valuable resources.

How to turn old PET bottles into new eyewear cases.

All glasses from the collection include a matching case, which is made from 80% rPET. The abbreviation rPET stands for recycled polyethylene terephthalate. The material is a food-grade raw material created from empty PET packaging. Used beverage bottles are sorted, cleaned and then shredded into small plastic chips. These in turn are then melted down, resulting in new rPET granules for further processing.
